Belarusian tenor Pavel Petrov is winner of the First Prize and the Don Placido Domingo Ferrer Prize of Zarzuela of Operalia 2018, The World Opera Competition; finalist of the Belvedere and Queen Sonja International Music competitions.
Pavel is currently a member of the ensemble at Oper Graz, where his roles have included Alfredo La traviata, Lensky Eugene Onegin, Cavalier Belfiore Il viaggio a Reims, Prunier La rondine and Rodolfo La bohème. Since 2012 Pavel is a member of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus, where his roles included Lensky and Triquet Eugene Onegin, Duke of Mantua Rigoletto, Alfredo, Jontek Halka, Tsar Berendey The Snow Maiden and Lykov The Tsar's Bride. During the 2015/16 season Pavel was also a member of the International Opera Studio of Zürich Opera House, where his roles included Licone Orlando paladino, Coryphée Le Comte Ory and Pong Turandot and First Armed Man Die Zauberflöte.

Engagements elsewhere have included Pong Turandot for his house debut at the Royal Opera House; his debut at the Salzburg Festival as Chaplitsky Pique Dame; Alfredo and Lensky and for Bucharest National Opera and Alfredo for the Mikhailovsky Theatre.

Pavel's forthcoming engagements include his role debut as Narraboth Salome, Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Ottavio Don Giovanni and Nadir Pearl Fishers for Oper Graz; Prunier and Alfredo for Latvian National Opera; Ferrando Cosi fan Tutte for Opera Australia; Alfredo for the Arena di Verona; Lensky for Stadttheater Klagenfurt and for Opera de Lausanne; Duke of Mantua Rigoletto for Opera Hong Kong; and Ivan Lykov Tsar's Bride for the Teatro Municipal de Santiago.

Pavel is a graduate of the Belarusian Academy of Music, studying with Professor Petr Ridiger. During his second year he became a soloist with the Belarusian State Opera in Minsk. Whilst training Pavel took part in masterclasses with, amongst others, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Hedwig Fassbaender, Fabio Luisi, Adrian Kelly, Dmirty Vdovin and Tamara Novichenko.
